First Post: 100 things about me

Well, I'm starting a brand new blog, since my new best friend Stephanie is really into blogging and I need something to do on the computer other than play minesweeper and I like writing about myself and this way, I'm hoping to get used to writing everyday again like I did in the fall. So, I'm going to start with 100 things about me. Here goes.

1. I was born in Provo, Utah on June 21, 1982.
2. I have the same birthday as Prince William and my mom says she watched the television broadcasts announcing his birth while she was in the hospital with me. Growing up I had fantasies that Wills and I would meet and fall in love.
3. When I was little I thought cats were girls and dogs were boys.
4. I lived in the Caribbean for nearly a year when I was an infant and I took my first steps on Grenada.
5. I'm only 23 but my birthday is so close I already tell people I'm twenty four.
6. I've been married for 3 years, and I got married before I graduated from college at age 20.
7. I've written one novel and I'm working on my second.
8. I'm 20 weeks pregnant with my second child--another girl. The older one will be 2 in July.
9. I think cut flowers are a terrible waste and would like to get flowers with roots intact if I'm given flowers at all.
10. I make dinner almost every night.
11. My husband is getting a PhD in nuclear engineering.
12. By 5th grade I had taken all of the math classes that my elementary school offered so I started to study prealgebra. But by the time I was in high school I lost all my abilities and got a 2 on the AP calculus exam.
13. I'm addicted to computer minesweeper even though it gives me headaches.
14. We don't have a dishwasher.
15. I hate talking on the telephone because I always imagine whoever I'm about to call is on the verge of curing cancer and then: Ring, I ruin everything for the whole world.
16. I'm the biggest cheapskate, but a really good saver.
17. I covet beautiful vegetable gardens.
18. I taught myself to run last year, but have mostly stopped because of Ohio's crazy weather and lack of sidewalks for my running stroller.
19. In high school I did music dance theater and wanted to major in that in college.
20. I planned on going to law school until my husband and I got engaged.
21. I read around 200 books a year (not including magazines and picture books) but I'm so picky that I usually only rave about 4.
22. I loved long division so much as a child that I made up problems for myself to do in my spare time.
23. Until I was pregnant with baby number 2 I hated the taste of real butter.
24. I haven't been to a movie in a theater in over a year.
25. One of my friends from college told me I look like Tipper Gore.
26. I can't wear contacts when I'm pregnant or nursing.
27. I hate it when people have "if" statements without "then" statements.
28. My bathroom REALLY needs to be cleaned.
29. I'm going with my husband on an internship for the summer again--this is the third year running.
30. I have a master's degree in English.
31. I pay my credit card bill off every month.
32. Instead of "things" for my birthday, I want a weekend away at a hotel so I can revise my first novel.
33. I don't mind doing my family's laundry, but I hate putting it away.
34. We don't own any dressers.
35. My husband has such sensitive teeth that he won't eat anything cold and I've started complaining too when restaraunts serve salads on chilled plates.
36. I've never seen a complete star wars movie.
37. I abhor daytime television in Ohio.
38. I watched the soap opera Passions for a month last year and can still tell you which characters used to be in love provided that they haven't "died" or joined a monastary.
39. I love playing games and am constantly trying to get my younger daughter interested, but she doesn't seem to care about them yet.
40. In a perfect world we wouldn't have a TV.
41. There is carpet in our dining room.
42. I dislike the color pink usually, but my daughter adores it.
43. I spend more time every day on my daughter's hair than I do on my own.
44. Both of my grandmothers and my mom are named Jane.
45. I like the way my husband's sweat smells.
46. Before children my chest was so flat my roommates in college called me "has no rack"
47. My maiden name is Clark and in grade school I had my first crush on a boy named Clark.
48. I'm the second oldest of 6 children.
49. My dad is a doctor and my mom is a lawyer.
50. I know how to bake bread without using any wheat.
51. I can make bagels with or without wheat.
52. My mom's strawberry pie is my favorite dessert.
53. My husband and I don't have a "song" I have no idea what we danced our first married dance to.
54. I used to have purple car.
55. I wish I hadn't registered for china.
56. Before she died I was very close to my great grandmother.
57. We live in a town house and every night I wake up when I hear our neighbors go up and down the stairs thinking they are in our house.
58. I've taken prozac.
59. I can't remember the last time I wore make up.
60. We have no food storage right now.
61. My wedding dress cost $100.
62. I'm the only girl in my family who doesn't have red hair.
63. I really like oatmeal.
64. I know how to golf.
65. My grandparents used to own a house on an island in Washington state and we went there every summer.
66. It bugs me when people say graduated high school.
67. The hair on my legs is so fine that I go weeks without shaving.
68. I spent a summer in an intensive Spanish program and went on a tour of Mexico.
69. I love beauty pageants.
70. I think parades are boring.
71. Since becoming pregnant I've had cravings for foods that you can only get in Utah (Cafe Rio!!!)
72. I got an A in a skiing class in college.
73. We own knives that cost more than everything else in our kitchen combined.
74. I taught Freshman English to students who were older than me.
75. I worked as a secretary in the Dean of the Colege of Humanites.
76. My first job was as a page at a library. It was minimun wage but they waved all my fines, so it might have been the best paying job I've ever had.
77. My husband jokes I had a mom crush on one of the men who did Storytime at the Provo library.
78. I love reading books but hate buying them.
79. I hate being cold in the summer except at night when I crank the airconditioning.
80. I made three quilts for my daughter.
81. I get up at least 2 times a night to go to the bathroom.
82. I nursed my daughter for 20 1/2 months.
83. I think Ohio is in the mideast, not the midwest.
84. I can't make food from mixes.
85. I've made maybe 2 good batches of cookies in my life.
86. Lately I don't like noodles and I've always hated Ramen and Mac and Cheese.
87. I'm reading "I Capture the Castle" "Grenada: an eyewitness history of the American invasion" "The Sun also Rises" and "The History of Housework" all at the same time.
88. This has taken me almost an hour so far.
89. I'm halfway through my pregnancy and can still fit into 2 pairs of pants from before.
90. I hate car seats. I think they're good for safety, but I'd rather walk two miles to the library than buckle my daughter in and out 4 times.
91. I watched all 7 seasons of The West Wing on DVD in a 4 month period.
92. We have a VC, not a VCR. Basically it doesn't record.
93. I like to drink milk, but no one else in my house does.
94. My neighbor keeps buying expensive shoes for my daughter.
95. We have glass in our front door and I always worry about someone breaking it and opening our deadbolt.
96. I'm the first woman my husband kissed.
97. I have almost all of my daughter's picture books memorized and we recite them to each other in the car and at the playground.
98. I'd love to have the courage to cut my hair so short it couldn't get in my eyes.
99. Our microwave is older than I am.
100. I can't find batteries that last more than 3 pictures for my digital camera, so I rarely use it.

I can't believe I made it. Now I get to see what my blog looks like
